How to engage with children in conversations

This workshop conveys theoretical knowledge and practical skills in planning, preparing and holding solution-focused conversations with children.

An intensive day with concrete tools and tecnichs to implement and use in your practice with children. It might be helpful with some prior knowledge of the solution-focused approach.

Content:

The workshop is designed on close links between theory and practice in an interaction between presentations, films and exercises, where the individual gets to work with the concrete conversation tools. Short introductory presentation of solution-focused theory and method, particularly focusing on the conditions that apply to work with children and their carers.

During the day, you will be introduced to different (creative) ways to also consider the child's carers, and we will discuss various solution-focused methods such as "The 3 Houses" and "Kids Skills" as well as how you can work solution-focused with the child and his network based on e.g. "People in my Life".

These are concrete and creative days where your own 'inner child' is revisited to better understand and be able to engage with children, and where we immerse ourselves in the importance of seeing children as subjects rather than objects.
